Welcome to
Blackhall Rocks

At Blackhall we discover  evidence of how the coastline was formed during the  Permian and Quaternary Periods.

In particular, we focus on conditions related to the tropical Zechstein Sea and explore evidence for the reefs that fringed it here along the Durham coast.

We also journey along the coast to to Castle Eden Dene and consider how the Durham Denes were formed.
